Taniq was formed as a band in the winter of Chicago 2000. The word Taniq is a portmanteau of Talent and Unique. When asked what sets Taniq apart, Taniq responds, “While our sound is deeply rooted in Soul and Hip-Hop, our music features Jazzy melodies, Funk-inspired horn arrangements, and Gospel-esque call-and-response. It helps us attract people that may not normally find themselves in the same room.” Their concerts feature a 7-piece band, choreographed dance routines, and lots of personal and interactive audience participation.

Taniq’s debut album “The Life & Times of Love was recorded in Chicago and LA and features top musicians from both cities. The album garnered many accolades including Taniq being signed to a publishing deal based off the strength of their songwriting. Their song “Sunrise” was listed in the top 100 entries for Best R&B Song for the 2009 51st Grammy Awards Nominations. Their songs have been licensed in major TV/Film as artists as well as songwriters for other artists. Taniq is currently working on their next album.
